Description

This course contains the use of artificial intelligence.

270 tools for OKR implementation in one course: 190 ready-to-use procedures, templates, checklists, question lists, matrices and formulas, 59 models and methods, and 21 services and apps shown on screen.

Open a lecture, take the tool, use it in your next quarter.

Why OKRs turn into a formality

The company reads a book about Google and writes OKRs. Each manager writes seven objectives, and most of them are the usual routine. Nobody looks at them during the quarter. At the end the scores are low, the CEO is disappointed, and next quarter people copy the same lines again. The method is simple. What fails is the launch, the rhythm and the first two or three cycles.

What changes after this course

You write three to five objectives that describe a change and not the routine. Leaders are on board before the launch. There is a weekly rhythm: check-ins, one-on-one meetings, updates. The quarter ends with a review and a retrospective, and people know that 50 to 70 percent on an ambitious goal is a normal result. The rollout itself is run as a project, with a plan and an owner.

Who is teaching

I am Mike, the #1 HR instructor on Udemy, with 1,800,000+ course enrollments from 170,000 students, and the author of about 200 books on Amazon. I built the people system at Preply as it became a unicorn and worked at Wargaming, iDeals and Alfa-Bank across 20 years in HR. I hold PHRi, SHRM-CP and HCI sHRBP certifications and represent HRCI in Eastern Europe.

I introduced OKRs in two companies. At iDeals, before OKRs, the top team met the CEO and he dictated the quarterly goals. Managers often disagreed, and one could see the goals being sabotaged. I gave the managers an hour of slides on OKRs. Each of them prepared their own OKRs, the CEO prepared the company’s, and at one meeting everyone opened theirs. We wrote them on sticky notes and grouped them on a board. The CEO saw for the first time how people themselves saw their goals. The first cycle was completed at 30 to 50 percent, and I had not told everyone clearly enough that this is normal for a first time. We cut the number of OKRs from five, six or seven per person to three to five. After four cycles the result settled at 50 to 70 percent.

How to use the course

Watch the first two sections in order: they take you through one full OKR cycle. Then open what your rollout needs: the project toolkit, strategic planning, change leadership or KPI design. The last section shows cases, software and the link with performance reviews. Section and lecture titles show how many tools are inside, and each lecture description lists them by name.
