Description

This course contains the use of artificial intelligence.

396 tools for project management in one course: 243 ready-to-use templates, checklists, question lists, procedures and matrices, 124 models and methods, 28 services and apps shown on screen, and 1 downloadable test.

Open a lecture, take the tool, use it in your current project.

Why projects miss deadlines and budgets

A project starts without a clear goal, stakeholders appear in the middle with new demands, the schedule is a wish, and the team learns about problems last. PMBOK 7 answers this with principles and performance domains. To use them at work you need the documents: a charter, a scope statement, a schedule, a risk register and a status report.

What changes after this course

You decide whether the project should start and write its charter. You know your stakeholders and what each of them expects. You break the work down, build a schedule and a budget, and see the risks in advance. You track progress in numbers, report clearly and close the project with lessons learned. And you manage the people on the team, which is where most projects are won or lost.

What is inside: 396 tools, counted file by file

You do not have to take this number on trust. Open any lecture and read its description: every tool inside is listed there by name.

  • 59 downloadable resources: the lecture presentations and a leadership style test
  • 243 ready-to-use tools inside the presentations:
  • 63 question lists and conversation scripts: project initiation decisions, WBS approach selection, team formation, sprint review stakeholder questions
  • 49 step-by-step procedures and workflows: project initiation, project schedule development, project risk management, project control cycle
  • 48 templates and sample documents: project charter, work breakdown structure, risk register, weekly status report
  • 44 checklists: project plan, project closure, stakeholder identification, project risk factors
  • 27 scorecards, rubrics and scoring matrices: power-interest matrix, risk probability-impact matrix, RACI matrix, 4T risk response model
  • 5 formulas and metric sets: earned value metrics, leadership style effectiveness index, employee retention metrics
  • 1 search string
  • 6 other working tools: personal histories team exercise, team effectiveness feedback exercise, negotiation style self-assessment
  • 124 models and methods explained with examples: PMBOK 7, waterfall project management, Agile project management, critical path method
  • 28 services and apps shown on screen, from a quick look to a detailed demo: Microsoft Project, Jira, Asana, Trello, Notion, Airtable, Miro, Confluence and others
  • 1 downloadable tool file: a leadership style test

Where the tools are

  • Project management core (4 sections, 98 tools). PMBOK 7 and PMI standards, stakeholders, communication and scope, planning, scheduling, budgeting and resources, teams, execution, monitoring and closing.
  • People management for project managers (317 tools in 48 lectures). Hiring and onboarding, team development, leadership styles, pay and bonuses, motivation and retention, goals and metrics, one-on-one meetings, coaching, team meetings, agile work and change. Three quarters of the course tools are here.

PMP exam preparation

The four core sections follow PMBOK 7: principles, performance domains and the documents behind them. The course includes a 10-question practice test and a 5-question scenario quiz to check yourself. It gives you the PMBOK 7 foundation; for the PMP exam itself, add a full-length question bank.

Who is teaching

I am Mike, the #1 HR instructor on Udemy, with 1,800,000+ course enrollments from 170,000 students, and the author of about 200 books on Amazon. I built the people system at Preply as it became a unicorn and worked at Wargaming, iDeals and Alfa-Bank across 20 years in HR. I hold PHRi, SHRM-CP and HCI sHRBP certifications and represent HRCI in Eastern Europe.

I came into project work by role, not by title. At Alfa-Bank I was brought into a project to centralize the operations center: the bank’s operational units sat in different cities and had to be gathered in one new place. My part was the people left without positions; we talked with them, collected resumes and offered vacancies while the new site was being staffed. At Wargaming it became formal: the HR team lacked people who could build projects, so each HR business partner took a couple, and I ran two projects alongside my main role, with Confluence as our working space. A project manager is often a role you carry next to your job.
